Week 6 is here and the last role is the Union President, the forehead of the union leading and winning for all Brighton Students.

This role entitles the individual to provide leadership through engaging and representing the needs of students in the university. As the Unions lead representative of the University on the Board of Governors it is their job to be the lead spokesperson with external media.

Candice Armah was the president from 2013 - 15 and described her experiences with the Union as "great years with great memories"

Discussing her day to day events she told us how helping solve other people's problems was always rewarding to her and being at a position where she could over watch so many changes happening for the best of students interests was great.

"One of the very big things you get to do day-to-day is help out students who don't think that they are getting a good enough experience or who have problems with their halls, courses, tutors, etc. or simply students who are keen to change something for the good of their course mates. This particular task is one of the great things about this job as you get such a feeling of satisfaction when you help someone out and it really develops your problem solving skills as you are sometimes put on the spot expected to come up with a solution but when you do, you change someone's world and it feels so great"

"One piece of advice for the elections themselves - make sure you know what you want to achieve if you are elected - students will ask you, create a team to help you throughout the process and make sure to get them all a nice dinner after it's all over - it is a great thing they are doing for you and finally remember to have fun - even if you don't win, it is a great thing even just being part of the process. You haven't lost anything -the elections week is something you will for sure remember and you will make new friends in the process."
