Brighton Students' Union and the University of Sussex Students' Union have been awarded £15,000 to spend on an event involving voter registration.

Abraham Baldry, University of Sussex Students' Union President, said

"I'm very excited by what we’re planning to do with this money. We can’t release details just yet, but it’s going to involve music, and it’s going to be big."

Thanks to Union lobbying at the University of Sussex, students can register to vote through Sussex Direct, and lecturers have been screening a film produced by the Students’ Union encouraging students to vote.

The University of Brighton Students’ Union is embarking on a broader voter registration campaign and is lobbying for the same system to be put in place.

Candice Armah, Brighton Students' Union President, said

"There are loads of great reasons that students should register to vote, but we’re cooking up something that will make it even more irresistible."
