Student Leadership Elections 2014

Nominations are now open for the Student Leadership Elections 2014.  If you care about making a difference for students, are up for a challenge and like the sound of making yourself more employable when you finish uni, there are some amazing opportunities available.

The Students' Union is directed, shaped and led by dozens of elected student leaders, some who volunteer their time to improve student life at the University of Brighton, and some who get paid a £17K salary to do this full time for an academic year.  So whatever your availability there will be something for you, whether you’re able to commit to a paid position for a year or can only contribute a few hours a week.

Life Changing Benefits

If you’re elected, you’ll become part of an organization committed to improving students’ lives that consistently achieves fantastic results. And the personal benefits of standing for a position really can be life changing. The skills you’ll build include leading campaigns, teamwork, representing students, negotiation, project management, communication – the list goes on and the experience gained as an elected representative is worth its weight in gold.

A voluntary work role is something employers notice and value on CVs – voluntary work can demonstrate passion, commitment and achievement. The skills you gain in the role will be transferable to other jobs, so you’re instantly putting yourself ahead of the game and making sure you stand out to future employers. You’ll also meet lots of new people, have fun, make real changes and gain confidence, which will help set you up for life.

How to Nominate Yourself

Sound interesting? It should do!  All you need to do next is have a look at the roles available and decide which one would suit you best.  Then find five University of Brighton students who'll want to be your official supporters in the election, and fill in the (very short!) online nomination form.

So make 2014 count, take part in the Student Leadership Elections. For all the information about Elections, including the roles available and nominations form, visit: www.brightonsu.com/elections
