Our current vacancies

Student Staff: Various roles, starting Autumn term 2014

Brighton SU is recruiting students to join its 2014/15 pool of student staff. We have a wide variety of roles available across our campuses:

  • Cafe/Bar Assistant
  • Shop Assistant
  • Campus Admin Assistant
  • General Admin Assistant/Ad hoc work

We will be holding recruitment assessment centres at Moulsecoomb and Eastbourne campuses in early May, with a view to getting our new student staff members on board and trained up before the end of the summer term, ready to start working for us at the beginning of the new academic year.

Joining our pool of student staff is a great way to gain experience, get involved in the Students' Union, make new friends and have fun whilst earning some much needed dosh! We can offer a maximum of 15 hours per week at our standard rate of £6.70 per hour. Any questions? Check out our FAQ.

Student Staff: Grad Ball Student Marketing Assistant, immediate start to 25 June 2014

Brighton Students' Union's Marketing team is hiring! We're looking for a proactive Marketing Assistant to help deliver the Grad Ball communications plan. This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in delivering a project and gain specific experience in social media, creating website news stories and emails, plus general administraton.

The role is for between 0.5 and 2 days per week, depending on your timetable and workload each week, at the standard Student Staff rate of pay (£6.70 per hour). We are looking for someone to start immediately (ideally w/c 28 April) for two months, up to 25th June 2014.

Student Staff: "What's Going On?" Assistant Vacancy

Brighton Students' Union's leadership team is recruiting two "What's Going On?" Assistants to assist with research to further a diversity and discrimination study project. The work will include qualitative research - focus groups - and will require a good understanding of qualitative research methodologies and data analysis, effective communication skills as well as previous experience of conducting qualitative research with the production of related reports.

This is a great opportunity to build on your experience in organising research, and using qualitative data – key for employability and further academic study. As well as providing flexible work around your studies, this role is also a chance to help improve conditions for students across the University of Brighton

The role is for 4 hours per week during term time at the standard Student Staff rate of pay (£6.70 per hour).

Student Staff: Freshtival Student Marketing Team, May to September 2014

Brighton Students’ Union is hiring! Freshtival is back for 2014, with even bigger events, DJs and live acts - and we need YOU to make sure everyone knows about it.

We’re looking for reliable, pro active and outgoing students, ideally with some marketing or promotions experience. You’ll spend the summer communicating with students about Freshtival and explaining why they can’t miss being part of this amazing set of events. Social media skills are a must, as is the ability to chat to our diverse student membership.

Established Staff: Trainee Community Organiser

Community Organisers are individuals who will work in the community around the Brighton or Hastings to bring people together, listen to their ideas, build networks and support people to tackle the local issues which are important to them.

The successful candidate will have a strong passion for social change and will be a great communicator. This role may suit a confident, dynamic and friendly individual who is wishing to become active in community work.

This role is a 51-week experiential learning programme to develop skills and experience in Community Organising. You will receive an OCN Level 2 or 3 in Community Organising upon completion of the 51-weeks training with further additional opportunities for specific training around Community Organising.
