Just a short meetup for anybody who is interested in joining the Chess society. Anybody is welcome to attend and we will be there to answer any questions you might have, play some games, and generally just have a chill time.

If you are anything like us you picked up chess during Lockdown, perhaps as a new hobby or perhaps returning to the game, and now you are itching to finally start playing some classic, over-the-board chess. Or perhaps you are looking to start competing in some regional/national chess tournaments, whether it is that or maybe something else we will be looking to celebrate the world re-opening with our first of hopefully many face-to-face chess meets.

This will be the second of our 2 welcome events to anybody who is new to the university or just new to the chess society. This will be as much a space for you to get to know us as us to get to know you, what you want out of a chess society and what we can offer as a larger collective of students with a common interest, affording opportunities that may not be available to most students.

All skill levels are welcome, whether you are just getting down how the pieces move to find the best refutations to the Sicilian we can cater to all levels, there is a spot for everybody.
