IO

SESSIONS RUNNING, EVERY MONDAY, 6PM-8PM IN COCKCROFT 205

IO (Input/Output, 1/0) is a student-run society at University of Brighton that aims to bring together students who are interested in computer science and related fields. The society is open to students of all levels of experience and backgrounds, and its main goals are to:

  • Foster collaboration among members on projects and research
  • Provide opportunities for members to learn and share knowledge
  • Create a supportive community of like-minded individuals
IO is run by an executive committee consisting of student leaders who organize events and manage the society's operations. The committee is elected each year by the society's members, and all members are encouraged to get involved in shaping the direction of the society.

NEED A SPACE TO WIND DOWN?

Don't worry, we're here to help with that too!

In addition to academic and professional development, IO also places a strong emphasis on socializing and building relationships among members. The society hosts a variety of social events throughout the academic year, including:
  • Movie nights
  • Game Nights
  • Competitions
  • Pub Crawls
These events provide opportunities for members to get to know each other in a fun and relaxed setting, and to form strong bonds that can last beyond their time at university.

WHAT'S NEXT FOR IO?

IO is constantly planning new events and activities for its members, with the goal of providing a diverse range of opportunities for learning, collaboration, and socializing. Some of the events that are currently being planned for the future include:
  • Programming workshops
  • Guest speakers from industry
  • Group coding challenges and hackathons

IO members are always encouraged to suggest new ideas for events and activities, and to get involved in organizing and running them. By doing so, they can gain valuable leadership and teamwork skills, and contribute to the society's mission of creating a vibrant and supportive community for computer science students at the University of Brighton.
