Pharmacy Society organises social events for the students in Pharmacy & Biomolecular Sciences, but primarily for Pharmacy Students. Every September, we kick off term with a bar crawl: a must-attend for freshers looking to get to know students throughout the course. There is no teaching between years so PharmSoc provides a friendly environment to meet students from other years, which is vital for uni integration. In December, the annual Staff-Student challenge takes place, where Pharmacy students go head-to-head with lecturers and members of staff from the PABS department in a quiz to determine who will hold this year's bragging rights! Our biggest (and best) event of the year has to be the Grand Pharmacy Ball. Since the inaugaral Ball, it has become a must-attend for Pharmacy students. Beautiful ball gowns, slick suits, 5-star cuisine and a pre-organised after party - this event includes everything you could ask for. The lectures also join us for this event, but rather than competition, the goal of the event is for students and staff to get to know each other outside of the academic environment, and let loose before the end of semester two.

PharmSoc acts to represent the views of all pharmacy students at the University of Brighton through our Student Union and the British Pharmaceutical Students' Association (BPSA), and social events are not all we offer. We established the parenting scheme, which pairs first year students up with mentors from higher years to give academic or emotional support, where needed. This is completely voluntary, and saw great results in its inaugural year. We arrange book sales so students don't need to pinch their pockets any further in buying a brand new textbook, and hold BPSA conferences/workshops, giving students more information about the field of work that they will soon enter.

Our aim is to inform, educate and entertain. We want to provide opportunities for all students in year one to four to meet and integrate!
