How would you boost employability for Brighton students?

- Creating volunteering opportunities for students to gain work experience within the university across all fields of study.

- Creating opportunities and support in building project portfolios to show employers.

- Campaign to get all students access to more software subscriptions, like Adobe and Canva.

- Networking events and opportunities to meet people already working, and building closer university connections with businesses to make it easier for students to get jobs and experience.

- No student should be held back by their circumstances or backgrounds. Greater employability support for commuters, carers and disabled who have more limited job accessibility, or experiencing bereavement and mental health challenges.

- All activities aiming to develop ‘Graduate Attributes’ employers are looking for in graduates.

How would you improve the experience in societies and student media? 

- Grow a culture of inclusivity across the BSU and provide society committee members with more resources and support in making new and existing members feel welcome and involved in any society.

- Invest into student media from sponsorships to improve communication, raise awareness of key issues across university, create a greater sense of community and belonging at university.

- Lobby for free sport opportunities and higher funding for every society.

- ZERO TOLERANCE on security closing buildings early.

- Help with transition into and out of university through normalising attending societies and sport after graduating, recorded student podcast guides, collaborating with students for ‘Freshers Week’ and regular cooking workshops.

- Large BSU events: balls, dinners, bubble parties, picnics etc.

What skills or expertise do you have that would make you suitable for the role?

- Founder and President of the ‘Bright Radio Society’ I learned a lot about what is required to start a new society and how the Brighton Students Union works, whilst learning about licencing and software requirements for radio broadcasting. I hosted the ‘Societyvision Song Contest’, collaborating with multiple societies.

- I am also VP Social of the ‘Creative Writing Society’ organising social media promotion, planning and leading events.

- I have volunteered for Sports Brighton during my second year as a Parklife Activator for Badminton and Football sessions.

- I am a course rep, worked at the university during wellbeing week.

- Working in customer service, and gaining great communication skills.

- Achieved this as a carer and commuter student.
