Dry January friendly events in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings this month!

Dry January is a good thing to do each year if you want to, it gives your body and your bank account a break from drinking (especially after the busy Christmas break!) and it’s great for your health! However, there may be times in the month that you’re stumped for non-alcohol focused events.

That’s why we – your supportive Students’ Union – have put together a list of brilliant events happening in Brighton, Eastbourne and Hastings this month for you to enjoy without the focus being on drinking!


  • Komedia Record Fair
    Come along to Komedia to browse thousands of vinyls and grab some great finds. You’ll have the chance to discover new music and find some old favourites!
  • Vintage Kilo:
    Looking to refresh your wardrobe in the New Year? Head to the Vintage Kilo sale at The Open Market. Grab some statement items at bargain prices!
  • 1975 at the Brighton Centre
    The 1975 are in Brighton this month! Head to the Brighton Centre to catch them.
  • The Vaccines at the Brighton Dome
    & you can also see The Vaccines at Brighton Dome this month!
  • Dim Sum Cooking Class:
    Take this opportunity to learn a new skill by attending this Dim Sum cooking class at The Community Kitchen.
  • Soultastics at The Mesmerist
    Head to the Mesmerist on January 28th to see the Soultastics and have a booze-free boogie!


Discover the ghosts of the Hippodrome Theatre – one of the most iconic and haunted buildings in the UK. This event is not for the faint hearted!

  • Stargazing event
    If you’re looking for something less spooky, head to the Western Lawns for the Eastbourne Astronomical Society’s Stargazing event.
  • Vegan Festival in Eastbourne
    Trying Veganuary? Head to the Vegan Festival in Eastbourne to check out fantastic vegan companies.
  • Jazz Night at The Stage Door:
    Relax with an evening of jazz at The Stage Door, you can celebrate your Dry January victory as it’s on the 31st!


  • Wrestling event at White Rock Theatre
    The White Rock Theatre are hosting a wrestling event with a line-up of top international stars from the wrestling world as well as British favourites including Love Island star, Adam Maxted.
