Your Guide to Christmas at BSU:

Despite the colder and darker days, the time is approaching to start getting in the festive spirit!

There are many events occurring, including FREE activities organised by Brighton Students' Union, and other events happening in and around Brighton!

Our FREE Give It A Go festive-themed activities include:

  • Christmas Wreath Making - Tuesday 5th December, 2pm-4pm
  • Ice Skating (Brighton) - Wednesday 6th December, 6pm-7pm
  • Christmas Crafternoon: Arts and Crafts - Thursday 7th December, 1pm-3pm
  • Ice Skating (Eastbourne) - Monday 11th December, 6pm-7pm, Wednesday 13th December, 6pm-7pm, Thursday 14th December, 7pm-8pm
  • Christmas Crafternoon: Design your own bauble - Tuesday 12th December, 2pm-4pm
  • Christmas Painting Workshop - Thursday 14th December, 2pm-4pm

If you would like to book on to any of these activities, then head to our events page. All our activities require a refundable deposit that will be returned to you after we confirm your attendance.

There are also many other activities and events happening across Brighton during the winter break:

  • Ice Skating at the Royal Pavilion - 28th October 2023 - 7th January 2024

Every year the Royal Pavilion is transformed into Brighton's stunning ice rink. Sessions must be booked in advance and are 45 minutes long. You can find out more and book tickets here.

  • Burning the Clocks - 21st December 2023

Burning the Clocks is a unique event that celebrates the shortest day of the year. Local people and students like you build paper lanterns and join a parade through the city that finishes with a huge blazing bonfire of paper lanterns on the beach. The event is FREE to attend and lantern kits can be purchased in locations across the city. You can find out more here.

  • Glow Wild - 23rd November 2023 - 1st January 2024

Glow Wild winter lantern festival is a magical night-time experience the whole family will enjoy. Journey through Wakehurst’s beautiful botanic gardens and woodlands. Trees, ponds, forest floors and 16th century mansion will be brought to life with thousands of lights and fire displays. Find out more here.

  • Artist Open Houses Winter - 25th November 2023 - 10th December 2023

Brighton’s Artist Open Houses returns this Christmas for three weekends starting on 25th November. During this time artists and makers across Brighton & Hove, Lewes, Ditchling and beyond will be throwing open the doors of their houses and studios to showcase a hugely diverse selection of artworks.
