Get ready - nominations for leadership elections open 19th February to 1st march

Time to get ready for the BSU Elections 2024!

The countdown has started for the Leadership Elections 2024! This is your chance to shape the future of the Students’ Union and decide who will represent the students at the University.

What are the BSU Elections?

The BSU Elections happen every year to find the students who will lead the Students’ Union for the next academic year. Brighton Students’ Union has four full-time officers, for 24/25 these will consist of the BSU President, Activities Officer, Education Officer, and Communities OfficerALL officer roles will be open to nominees during the nomination period.

Can I nominate myself?

Yes! - ANY student at the University of Brighton can nominate themselves – you don’t have to be in your final year (but we do recommend this to avoid pausing your degree). You DON’T need prior experience in any of the roles - you learn on the job! At BSU, we are happy to help you! It is important to remember that being an officer is a full-time position.

Why should I nominate myself?

It's your chance to make real change at the University and have the privilege of making student life better! There are also many benefits to the role. These include a salary of £24k+, 27 days annual leave plus 4 closure days, enhanced pension, generous benefits package including free gym membership. You will have the opportunity to attend exciting events such as graduation ceremonies, Union Awards, Sports Awards, Society events and more! You will gain valuable experience and develop your skills to enhance your CV.

How do the Elections work?

At BSU we want to ensure that the decision on who leads the SU relies with the students, therefore these positions are elected. This means the future officers will be selected through student votes, which will be open between the 12th and 14th of March. There will be plenty of help provided from the Engagement team on how you can run a successful campaign and gain as many student votes as possible! These votes will be counted and the successful candidates will be announced at our results ceremony on the 15th of March.

Think you could lead the SU? Now’s the time to act! Nominations for the leadership elections open 19th February and close 1st March. Get in touch with us to find out more.
