Brighton Students’ Union will be closed for the Winter break from Thursday 21 Dec 2023 and re-opening Tuesday 2 Jan 2024.

BSU Support Team ~

Our support team will be available to students until Wednesday 20th December. Until this time, you can still book an appointment to meet with one of our advisors online here.

If you are using or about to use any of the University processes, here’s a summary of some of how these work across the Winter break:   

The Complaints process deadline is usually “within 30 calendar days of the issue or concern arising”, but as the university will be closed the deadline is ‘paused’ from December 21st and restarts when the university opens again on January 2nd.   

The Additional Consideration process has a deadline of “within 14 calendar days after the assessment deadline” if you’re making a Full Application, or “within 7 calendar days after the last affected assessment date” if you’re applying for Self Certification. The deadline is ‘paused’ from December 21st and restarts when the university opens again on January 2nd. 

The Academic Appeals processes deadline is “within 21 calendar days of the results being released to the student or receiving the outcome of a Results Review”. You guessed it! The deadline ‘paused’ from December 21st and restarts when the university opens again on January 2nd. 

You can also expect a delay in any response from university staff, departments and academic schools to any of your communications. If you have any queries, check with your school office about their response times. School office contacts (brighton.ac.uk).

BSU Engagement Team ~

Our Engagement Team will be available to assist students with any queries about societies or Give It A Go activities until Wednesday 20th December. Any queries relating to Course Reps will be answered in new year due to staff availability. 

Your Officers will also be available until 5pm on Wednesday 20th December for any questions you may have.

Our shops and cafés will be closing on Friday 15th December (except the Cockcroft shop on Wednesday 20th December), and The Venue will be closing on Saturday 16th December.
