We at the Brighton Midwifery Society aim to spread knowledge and information around pregnancy and birth. We are open to Midwives, Student Midwives, prospective Student Midwives as well as mothers and fathers who want to expand their learning pertaining to this pivotal time in their lives. Midwives are the experts in normality and we aim to promote normal birth, in all its different incarnations, while building up a community of like minded individuals with a passion for Midwifery.

Get all your members to 'Join' your society officially online, here's how...
* Fill in your event calendar - 1/month
On your society webpage, within the 'Events' tab, you have a calendar. It lists all the key dates that affect societies such as; society elections, Freshers' and Refreshers' Fairs etc. This will help you to plan your year ahead. To mark this accreditation as complete, you must add at least one entry (an event or social) to each of the calendar months to show what you plan to do throughout the year. This should be done at the start of the year so everyone in your society knows what's going on. For more information about how to add an event CLICK HERE
* Attend society training
All Committee members MUST attend one society training session. These run throughout October, sign up HERE
Please Note: Due to the nature of the role; Web Officers and Welfare Officers must attend an additional training session specific to their role.
* Update your webpage
Correct contact details, description and Logo. Follow these simple steps to add info to your webpage HERE

Do a Takeover
This is where your society get to takeover one of our SU Venues; The Hive at Falmer or the Starting Gate at Eastbourne. You can get creative with the theme and we can support with sound equipment and set up. Past events have included Comedy nights, music gigs and quizzes.
Invite an external speaker to give talks on topics of interest to your society. They could be a member of a charity, organisation, professional or inspirational person.
Please Note: You MUST email email@example.com with a) Name of speaker b) Date, time, location C) Content of their talk D) Links to their webpage, blog or organisation 3 weeks BEFORE and MUST NOT publicise your speaker for your event until they have been approved.
Fundraise for your Society
Do a fundraising event for your society to raise funds in your BSU society bank account.
Bid for funding from Soc Fed
SocFed have an 8k budget for the year ahead to give to societies - Bid for some funding HERE
Enter Society of the Month
You could win £100 for your society, enter HERE
Refreshers Fair or Refreshers event
Book and run a Refreshers stall or host a Refreshers event to gain new members.
Recruit at least 20 new members
Get your 20+ new members to find your society webpage and officially 'Join' online, HERE'S HOW!
Advertise 3 events on the BSU Website
Email firstname.lastname@example.org a few weeks before the event with all of the details and we will promote it via our website.
* Take part in the online society elections
There are 2 ways you can take part in the online elections;
1) Nominating and 2) voting.
1) From 8th Jan – 23rd Feb you can either nominate yourself or nominate a friend to stand for a society leadership role in the elections.
2) From 6th – 14th March you can vote online for the candidates
*At least 50% of your society must have taken part to qualify for this accreditation.
* Attend societies AGM
Ensure 2 of your new Committee members for next year 2018/19 attend the Society AGM in LT1 Cockcroft on Tuesday 1st May 2018.
Complete the *compulsory accreditation + 4 of your choice!
Do a Double-Takeover
Takeover one of our SU Venues in collaboration with another society; The Hive at Falmer or the Starting Gate at Eastbourne. You can get creative with the theme and we can support with sound equipment and set up. Past events have included Comedy nights, music gigs and quizzes.
Collaborate with another society
Do a joint event with another society or do a joint fundraiser – separate events but joint donation.
Film a video about your society for recruitment
Film a short video about your society (no need for expensive equipment, just use your phone). Let everyone know what you get up to and why they should join. Upload your video to YouTube, send us the ULR and we'll upload it to your society webpage.

Raise money for charity
Do a fundraising event and donate the proceeds to charity.
* Complete handover packs for new committee
Print out a handover pack for each of your committee roles (President, Secretary, Treasurer, Web Officer, Welfare & Safety Officer), fill in the blanks and add anything extra they will need to know.
