HOW WOULD YOU MAKE STUDENT LIFE BETTER?
As a rerunning officer, I have already contributed to making student's lives better by opening a food pantry, sitting in various university meetings to make sure the regulations are benefiting students, hosting and helping with events to build a stronger international community (e.g., football tournament, hosting a postgraduate week soon). There are numerous other things I have done that can be found on @subrighton or @bsupostgraduate social media accounts. Going forward as a rerunning officer i will continue to do everything i have been doing so far and build on more events and campaigns by communicating with students to see what else could be improved on.
HOW WOULD YOU REPRESENT THE VIEWS OF 18,000 STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BRIGHTON?
- I will continue to prioritize putting students at the heart by openly communicating with students from all years and backgrounds to see what challenges or problems they are facing and will strive to push these agendas to high-level university meetings to make a change(e.g., I have implemented a new border zone rule for PG).
- This year I have met with the mayor of Brighton and hove to discuss the future relationship with the mayor's office and the government to build a better Brighton for students which I will continue to do so when re-elected
- I will continue to make sure that the university is a safe space and that there is no room for harassment towards anybody.
WHAT SKILLS OR EXPERTISE DO YOU HAVE THAT WOULD MAKE YOU SUITABLE FOR THE ROLE?
As a rerunning officer and having hosted numerous events, being an active part of the academic board and doctoral college board, and sitting in various meetings in the university (e.g., academic appeal panel, additional consideration panel, scholarship panel) the skills I have gained and improved on are the following: Project planning Organisation Public speaking Leadership skills The ability to accept criticism and work well under pressure Emotional maturity Strategic thinking Vision and mission People management. I was also a president of the Nepalese society and social sec and vice-captain for the volleyball team in the university and head boy in the sixth form college where I learnt how to communicate and manage people efficiently
