Grocery shopping with COVID

We are halfway through Welcome Week here at Brighton, anyone needing to get some grocery shopping in?

Starting University opens so many doors for all of us, we get to explore who we truly are as well as who is a future MasterChef, and who is…well? Just not! Ready meals will only get you so far through Freshers, so it’s about time we tell you how you can grab some ingredients to make some more fulfilling meals such as roast dinners and vegetable curry’s (there are some cool interactive classes on how you can prepare these throughout the Freshers period, so keep an eye out!).

Remember: When entering a local supermarket or corner shop, we are now all expected to wear a face-covering unless we have a reason as stated by the government not to. This is to help us all remain safe during the pandemic. However, if you are worried about doing this? You can still order online via the amazing click and collet systems in place and also the deliveries available at various different supermarkets.

Below is a list of local shops where you can grab food and hot food while studying at Brighton. We have also included links to our student shops & cafes, because (fun fact), when you purchase something from us, that money goes straight back into your student experience. So, by buying a portion of nachos or maybe a meal deal, you’re directly contributing towards making your student experience at Brighton even better!

Our two biggest campuses are Moulsecoomb and Falmer
You could buy food via the:

  • Basement Central + The Shop
  • Moulsecoomb Campus
  • Cockcroft Building
  • The Hive
  • Ringmer House
  • Falmer Campus

Here is a link for you to see yourself about all the various outlets the university itself offers!

Externally to the university if you would like to do your grocery shopping here are a few places you could go:
Unit 1, RP,
The Pavilion Centre, Lewes Rd,
BN2 3QA
1-4 London Rd,
BN1 4JA
93 Lewes Rd

BN2 3QA
Unit 1, off Crowhurst Rd,
Carden Ave,
BN1 8AS

Brighton Marina,
BN2 5UT

It is important to make sure you eat a balanced diet, and that you adhere to the governmental guidelines. If you are anxious about how much exposure grocery shopping gives you, there are things like click and collect which would drastically reduce your exposure whilst still also allowing you to get out of the house and get some fresh air!
