BSU Government response

Some of you might have seen the latest government guidelines around social distancing and gatherings. We know that coming to University under these circumstances is worrying but please know that Brighton Students’ Union is here for you every step of the way.

Freshers 2020 will be going ahead at Brighton this year on a purely digital platform. We had hoped originally to bring you a blended approach of both in-person and virtual events, however after further consideration and to maintain your safety we decided to focus our efforts on creating the best virtual Freshers’ 2020 experience that we can.

For information on how to get involved, visit our Freshers 2020 website at:

We have also updated our FAQs section to provide you with further answers as to how we will be prioritising your safety over the next coming months. While we cannot predict what may happen moving forward into the new academic year, we can reassure you that your Students’ Union are working tirelessly behind the scenes to deliver the best student experience possible.

If the change in government guidance has left you feeling uneasy or worried about returning to University this year, feel free to reach out and contact our fantastic BSU Support team. They are able to provide you with free and confidential advice whilst you are studying at Brighton, but you can also contact the Brighton Students’ Union team directly at: if you have a query regarding Freshers.

We will be organising small popup giveaways in gazebos during the freshers’ period, so watch this space!

We cannot wait to show you all the amazing things we have planned for Freshers and look forward to welcoming you all later this month.
