My name is Melissa Metger, currently a second-year student doing straight Law. Having two years of experience in the past of managing student governments while in school, by running for law society president I am committed to leveraging my experience and passion to foster positive change within our esteemed law school community.
I pledge to establish comprehensive academic support to meet the diverse needs of law students across the three years of study. I will make sure that every student has access to the resources they need to excel in their studies. Through workshops, networking events, and guest speaker series, I will create opportunities for students to connect with legal professionals and gain invaluable insights into various career paths within the field of law, and create a Law Society that serves as a springboard for the professional growth of our members.
As President, I will prioritize initiatives that celebrate our differences and create a welcoming environment where all students feel valued and respected, regardless of their background or identity. Having an inclusive and diverse Law Society is important to foster a vibrant and thriving academic community. I will work closely with university administration and relevant stakeholders to address issues such as mental health support, accommodation affordability, and access to legal resources, ensuring that the voices of our students are heard and their needs are met.
In conclusion, I am deeply committed to championing the interests of our law school community and fostering an environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
