Hi everyone! My Name is Max, I’m 19 and am running for President of the ESports Society. Whether it was my first experience button mashing on Street Fighter II or grinding Valorant until days become nights, I have always been dedicated to the gaming cause. This has shaped my choices when it comes to education too, and I have begun to pursue a degree in Computer Science for Games.
As one of the largest societies at Brighton, the ESports Soc is brimming with potential to be at the top, a goal that I would try to achieve. I believe one area that could be improved is the access to ESports events and leagues. We currently have 2 leagues, NSE and NUEL that we partake in. Beyond that, there isn’t much else. Given the opportunity, I would love to have our teams partake in regional tournaments, enrolling in broader leagues and even some semi-professional events. Playing on mainstage is one of the most exciting feelings in gaming, and I believe everyone should have the best shot possible of doing so if they choose.
The Soc Minecraft server was an excellent idea, and was easily the busiest I have seen in the Society. More organised events like this would certainly be on the horizon if you choose to elect me. Beyond gaming entirely, I have a number of skills that I’d love to put to use helping out VPs, whether it's editing videos for a social media post, or making a (somewhat overcomplicated) spreadsheet for budgeting. A true leader listens as much as they speak, seeks to understand as much as they seek to be understood. I am committed to fostering an environment where every voice is heard, every opinion respected, and every individual empowered to contribute their unique perspective to our collective vision. It is not with arrogance, but with a genuine sense of responsibility and dedication, that I express my confidence in my ability to lead.
In wrapping up, I just want to say thank you for considering me for the role of president. If elected, I promise to lead with sincerity, integrity, and a genuine desire to make our esports society the best it can be.
