How would you boost employability for Brighton students?

- I'd boost employability by hosting more in-person workshops looking into software skills used in employment such as Excel, Photoshop etc that will help to strengthen CVs.

- I will engage with local Brighton businesses through guest speakers across the year either online/in-person with information as to what employers look for in CVs, interview techniques and general experience and advice.

- Placements can cause many students to feel stressed and anxious so I would like to host talks with final year students in the lead up to placement season as to how their experience went and tips to cope with the stress.

How would you improve the experience in societies and student media?

- I will improve society experience by organising committee meet ups across the range of societies so that committee members can get to know each other, share ideas and exchange information for possible joint socials. I believe this will help students meet more people and make more friends in societies they may not have expected.

- Regarding student media, I would like to develop the infrastructure of the student radio station to be played live for a daily/weekly set across BSU outlets, with possible artist pop up sets at The Venue.

What skills or expertise do you have that would make you suitable for the role?

- Being co-president and socials organiser of my third year society has enabled me to engage in communication with local bars in Brighton to build partnerships and take part in events, requiring me to be organised and a good communicator across a variety of audiences.

- In my university course I have undergone a professional placement with a creative advertising and events company, gaining skills in project planning, venue and client liaison, budgeting, event admin and health and safety for large scale events. This is also why I have included a placement talk in how I'd boost employability as I personally understand how students feel in the lead up to placement/ full-time employment.
