How would you work to amplify student voice?

As President:

I will amplify student voice by listening efficiently and communicating with all students from all campuses and schools to ensure their concerns, challenges and issues are voiced and heard by the BSU and university.

In addition to that, I will amplify student voice by organising different and regular events and forums for students of different backgrounds, courses and schools to engage in to get feedback on the issues raised.

I will amplify student voice by advocating for every student at the university, ensuring equal representation and striving to enhance the overall experience throughout their academic journey and going the extra mile to actively contribute to the improvement of student life, making it both pleasant and rewarding.

How would you work with the University to achieve positive change for students?

Lobbying for comprehensive training for university and BSU staff on diversity, equality, and the effective utilization of tools to improve scheduling, term dates and aligning assignment deadlines with cultural and religious observances to prevent conflicts with important religious dates.

Striving for inclusivity by campaigning for zero tolerance against discrimination and establishing robust support systems for affected students.

Advocating for enhanced support for students seeking placements and focusing on improving assistance in the search and application process. Increased support for international students navigating placement years and post-graduation job markets, addressing challenges related to sponsorships and visas.

Campaigning to raise awareness of mental health issues faced by students and organising workshops to give students practical skills needed to cope with stress and anxiety.

What skills or expertise do you have that would make you suitable for the role?

As current Education Officer, I've put prioritizing students' needs at the core of everything I do, which has resulted in students’ getting one evidence-free extension each semester next academic year; monitoring of the 20-day feedback policy to ensure it's followed, rebranding lecture capture to "Recap" and an emphasis on more lecture recording.

I have gained skills in communication and teamwork as society President as a student, where I worked with other members of the committee team to organise and put on events for the members.

As an international student I have gained a multicultural perspective, understanding various student backgrounds, and promoting unity in diversity.

As President I will build on all this and represent diverse interests and drive positive change.
